A Social Approach to Communication in Multiagent Systems

چکیده
This paper aims at defining the semantics of Agent Communication Languages (ACLs) in terms of changes in the social relationships between agents, represented in terms of social commitments. We take commitment to be a primitive concept underlying the social dimension of multiagent systems, and define a basic artificial institution that provides agents with the means to affect the commitment network that binds them to each other. Two different approaches are adopted for the presentation of our proposal: a logical formalization and an operational

[email protected], [email protected] Abstract Although communication is generally considered to dominate over processing cost in distributed systems, the problem of communication cost in multiagent planning has not been su ciently addressed. One method...
متن کاملTowards a Unified Model of Socialitiy in Multiagent Systems
This paper presents communication systems (CS) as the first available unified model of socially intelligent systems defined in terms of communication structures. It combines the empirical analysis of communication in a social system with logical processing of social information to provide a general framework for computational components that exploit communication processes in multiagent systems...

Automation of planning techniques can potentially save a great deal of design and programming time, and can help robots design plans when human help is not available. Currently, the computational cost of machine planning algorithms prevents widespread use of these systems, and these costs are magniied in multiagent systems. The most expensive and time-consuming aspect of multiagent systems, com...
متن کاملSolving the flexible job shop problem by hybrid metaheuristics-based multiagent model
The flexible job shop scheduling problem (FJSP) is a generalization of the classical job shop scheduling problem that allows to process operations on one machine out of a set of alternative machines. The FJSP is an NP-hard problem consisting of two sub-problems, which are the assignment and the scheduling problems. In this paper, we propose how to solve the FJSP by hybrid metaheuristics-based c...
متن کاملConnections, Communication and Collaboration in Healthcare’s Complex Adaptive Systems; Comment on “Using Complexity and Network Concepts to Inform Healthcare Knowledge Translation”
A more sophisticated understanding of the unpredictable, disorderly and unstable aspects of healthcare organisations is developing in the knowledge translation (KT) literature. In an article published in this journal, Kitson et al introduced a new model for KT in healthcare based on complexity theory. The Knowledge Translation Complexity Network Model (KTCNM) provides a fresh perspective by mak...
